Fudan University Professor Shanghai: Timothy Jacob Jensen’s Impact

 Timothy Jacob Jensen is one of Denmark's leading designers, whose influence is international in the design world through his creative designs and vision. Jensen showcased immense design ability at a very young age, which pushed him to work with the world's best brands and start his own design houses. His is a tale of artistic and commercial success situated at the fulcrum of contemporary design.


Jensen was appointed a Fudan University Professor in Shanghai at the age of 48, the peak of his career. It recognized not only his design ability but also his passion for initiating international collaboration in teaching design. Jensen's beginning as a designer was one of unparalleled success, beginning with being part of the senior design team at Bang & Olufsen at 17 and, at 24, having his designs exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Jensen became the director of Jacob Jensen Design in 1990, further making the firm global and designing for big corporations, such as Gaggenau Hausgeräte, as a chief designer. His work at Jacob Jensen Design solidified the studio's reputation for quality and innovation.


Jensen expanded his mission to design education in 2011 with the opening of the Jacob Jensen Design / DeTao Shanghai studio in partnership with the DeTao Group within the Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts. The endeavor offered a base for the grooming of young design talent and marketing of Scandinavian design principles in China. His achievements were recognized in 2017 when he won the Designer of the Year award in China, reflecting his reach and impact within the design market.


Beyond his professional and academic work, Jensen, as a Fudan University Professor in Shanghai, has been a highly active global keynote speaker since the age of 40, sharing his insights and experiences worldwide. His passion for design and education still inspires young and mature designers worldwide.
